CANADEM is seeking seasoned professionals with previous relevant experience for its Surgical Nurse roster, Arabic speakers highly desirable. CANADEM is a Canadian-based NGO that works with various UN agencies through the standby partnership program. We regularly deploy candidates in various areas of expertise all around the globe. Registration with CANADEM is always free. We are looking to expand our pool of experts for potential/upcoming opportunities with different UN agencies field offices. Most positions are for 3 to 6-month deployments, including potential volunteer deployments.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Required

  • Registered license in nursing care
  • Work experience as surgical/trauma nurse
  • English: Advanced/Intermediate
  • Ability to work in a team comprising multiple partners and/or medical volunteers from
    different organizations and backgrounds, with different skillsets

Desirable:

  • Arabic speaker
  • Proven experience as part of an Emergency Team
  • Background in humanitarian aid delivery
  • Previous experience of working in low-resource and or conflict settings
  • Familiarity with culture, customs, and religious context, and sensitivity towards staff, and
    acknowledgement of the sensitive and delicate nature of the conflict.

CANADEM and its partners have a no-tolerance policy towards Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (SEAH). For this reason, we adhere to all policies, procedures and training of the United Nations on The Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (PSEAH). CANADEM mandates all deployees successfully complete the PSEA online course. This e-learning course is composed of a set of lessons designed to raise awareness about SEAH, become familiar with a range of measures to combat SEAH, understand the impact on victims and the consequences for UN Personnel who commit Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment.
