Introduction
The Green Climate Fund is the world’s largest dedicated multilateral climate fund and invests in impactful, innovative, catalytic programs and projects in developing countries across the globe. By the end of 2023, GCF had a portfolio of 243 projects in 129 countries, committing a total of USD 13.5 billion to date.

Position Objective
The Independent Redress Mechanism (IRM) is an accountability mechanism of the GCF. The IRM responds to complaints by people who believe they have been adversely affected by GCF projects or programs. The IRM also accepts requests by developing countries for the reconsideration of proposals that were denied funding by the GCF Board. Additionally, the IRM has a mandate to provide advice to the Board on GCF’s operational policies and procedures, based on lessons learned from our cases. The Case Associate will report to the Compliance and Policy Lead of the Independent Redress Mechanism and will support the Advisory and Compliance Review functions of the IRM.
This involves, amongst others, supporting the handling and tracking the IRM’s complaints that cannot or could not be resolved through IRM’s dispute resolution mechanism. This includes capturing of all relevant data in the Case Management System (CMS), engaging in substantive communications with the parties involved in the IRM’s complaints, supporting the Compliance and Policy Lead with compliance appraisals when necessary, and producing reports and managing logistics in relation to compliance investigation.
The Case Associate also assists the Compliance and Policy Lead with the communications, logistics, and preparation of materials for policy initiatives and advisories issued by the IRM for, with a particular emphasis on case-related lessons learned or output documents. The Case Associate works collaboratively with Procurement and Human Resources (HR), as well as the Head of the IRM and the Compliance and Policy Lead, to ensure that the IRM deploys the necessary resources to conduct compliance review and investigation of complaints.
