About the Team

The HSP team provide holistic case management service under Humanitarian Settlement Program (HSP) to newly arrived refugees and humanitarian entrants (Clients), including those with complex needs requiring specialised and intensive services, to build the skills and knowledge for social and economic well-being.

HSP aims to build the skills and knowledge for social and economic well-being of clients. It delivers Settlement Services to Clients through a tailored, needs-based case management approach. The relationship with the Case Manager is the foundation on which the HSP case management process is based, working in partnership with Clients and other service provider personnel, case workers and professionals involved in supporting the Client.

About You

You will work to deliver HSP settlement services to clients as per SSI policy and guidelines. HSP Clients will be classified into a Tier according to their level of need and the complexity of their circumstances. Majority of HSP clients are expected to be classified under Tier 1 and Tier 2 and will receive the standard HSP services. This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative and highly – regarded team with significant opportunity to be a key contributor in implementing SSI’s HSP Plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Delivery of HSP Settlement Services to Clients as per SSI policy and procedures and HSP Guidelines.
  • Review and update pre-arrival needs assessment (including Proposer needs assessment, where available) conducted through SSI’s initial assessment process based on updates/additional information from HSP System and Proposers or links (if identified in the Case).
  • Implement CMP via service delivery methods including working in partnership with the Client, other SSI staff and programs (eg. support workers, housing officers, bilingual guides, volunteers, and other staff from RESP, Ignite, AbilityLinks, etc programs) and other Service Provider personnel (such as jobActive, AMEP provider(s), NSW Refugee Health Services, GPs) and professionals to achieve Settlement Outcomes.
  • Maintain regular contact with clients to track Client progress against the CMP, record achievements and/or completion and reassess Client needs and goals and amend the CMP accordingly and (iv) seek Client feedback about their experiences.
  • Development of networks and ongoing liaison with key stakeholders to meet client needs.

Essential Criteria

  • Diploma of Community Services (Case Management); or Bachelor of Applied Sciences (Community Services).
  • Demonstrated experience of case management supporting newly arrived refugees and humanitarian entrants during their initial settlement in Australia.
  • Ability to build rapport and trust with client group.
  • Ability to work under pressure – Maintaining stable performance under pressure and/or opposition (such as time pressure or job ambiguity).
  • Time management skills (being able to coordinate daily, weekly and monthly activities).
  • Ability to manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and understanding of refugee settlement process.
  • High level of written and verbal English skills.
