ABOUT THE TEAM

Atunypa Wiru Minyma Uwankaraku Service is a domestic and family violence support and advocacy service for Aboriginal women and children living in the NPY region. The service is informed by a holistic and relational understanding of violence that acknowledges the key role of family and community relationships in working effectively with indigenous clients.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Domestic and Family Violence Service (DFVS) Case Worker, you will be responsible for supporting and advocating with, and for, women and children who may be experiencing, or at risk of, domestic violence, in a culturally safe manner, ensuring they are provided with a comprehensive support service.

This role is based in Alice Springs and requires significant travel to the NPY lands, meaning dedicated time out bush and in community. Staff have accommodation and vehicles provided to support this travel, along with travel allowance. Working alongside the Community Development team is also essential to the Case Worker role, as per the Strengthening Community Capacity to End Violence Framework. We provide a comprehensive orientation program, best practice clinical supervision, professional development that includes vicarious trauma and case management training along with critical incident de-briefing and a range of counselling services to support our staff.

ABOUT YOU

The successful candidates will have a relevant degree in Social Work, Community Development or related undergraduate or post-graduate qualification, or be willing to undertake social work studies following commencement. Experience in the Domestic and Family Violence context as a case manager / counsellor will be highly regarded. You will also have an interest in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and cross-cultural environments.

In addition to this we offer a generous remuneration package. You will receive an above award salary, salary packaging benefits, 25 days of annual leave, 5 days of additional leave and 15 days of personal leave. We also provide use of a company vehicle when travelling remotely along with travel allowance.
