About the team

Our Microfinance team works together to support low-income earners by providing small loans and engage in practical conversations to increase our client’s financial awareness. We walk with each person to understand the unique circumstances of their life and we empower them to live well through practical and reliable support.

About the role

As a Microfinance Case Worker, your role is to support the delivery of the No-Interest Loans scheme (NILS) through effective co-ordination and interpersonal engagement in the NILS scheme engaging with clients within a trauma informed care framework.

This is a permanent part-time position offering 4 days a week based in Newcastle (either at Windale or Wallsend).

The successful applicant will have:

  • Qualifications in Community Services, Social Work, Counselling or other relevant fields (Diploma minimum or relevant workplace experience)
  • Experience in social or community work, counselling and group facilitation
  • Experience working in a trauma informed, client-centred way
  • Current and valid Working with Children Check/Working with Vulnerable People Registration
  • Current drivers’ license
  • Models & promotes BaptistCare vision, purpose and practises & leads others aligned with our Shared Values
  • Strong administrative skills and numeric capacity
  • Excellent communication skills verbally and written – multilingual would be an advantage
  • Advanced skills in risk assessment and case work relating to Domestic and Family Violence
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated but also work collaboratively as part of a wider team
  • Demonstrated time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with a wide range of key stakeholders, services, agencies, departments, and government and non-government organisations
