Your Role

As a Case Worker with our Homelessness and Housing Services, you will be at the forefront of providing critical support and creating positive change within our community. The high quality support you provide will play a crucial role in assisting individuals to stabilise & sustain their accommodation, and ultimately transition away from homelessness. You will be joining a dedicated team, that fosters support and collaboration, offering outstanding Learning and Development programs designed to accelerate and elevate your career.

Your Responsibility

  • Engage and Support Clients: Work directly with individuals facing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless. Conduct initial intakes, assessments, and provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Connect and Empower: Refer clients to essential services, life skills, and educational programs, and advocate on their behalf with government departments, courts, and other service providers.
  • Build Partnerships: Forge collaborative relationships with key stakeholders and services to enhance client support and service delivery.
  • Foster a Respectful Environment: Offer client support with a respectful, non-judgmental, and inclusive approach, while upholding client confidentiality and rights.
  • Support and Supervise: Assist with client activities, develop and monitor case plans, and oversee placement volunteers and students.
  • Maintain Professional Standards: Keep accurate client records, manage correspondence, and participate in staff meetings and training.

You Will Need

  • Educational Background: Minimum TAFE Certificate IV or currently pursuing tertiary study in welfare or a related field.
  • Relevant Experience: Previous experience supporting marginalised and vulnerable individuals, including those experiencing homelessness.
  • Knowledge Base: In-depth understanding of issues related to homelessness, such as family breakdowns, mental illness, and substance addictions (drug, alcohol, and gambling).
  • Community Awareness: Strong awareness of local community support services, including government agencies and NGOs, with proven ability to build and maintain robust relationships with these service providers.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively interact with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Technical Proficiency: Sound computer skills for maintaining records and managing client information.
  • Crisis Management: Ability to use sound judgment and act appropriately in crisis and emergency situations.
  • Licensing: Valid NSW driver’s license.
