About the role:
This is a full-time contract opportunity to June 2025 (35 hours per week) located in Campbelltown NSW. Starting base annual salary $91,297 to $96,882 based on experience, plus super, plus access to generous salary packaging options.

About the opportunity:
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of vulnerable families? Uniting is looking for a dedicated Family Preservation Caseworker to join our supportive team in Southwestern Sydney.
In this pivotal role, you’ll help families facing significant challenges by providing trauma-informed, evidence-based casework that focuses on keeping children safe within their homes. You’ll work alongside families in the child protection system, supporting them in overcoming barriers and building stronger, healthier relationships.
- Deliver a range of culturally responsive, trauma-informed services to support family preservation.
- Collaborate closely with families to develop and implement effective, child-focused case plans that ensure the safety and well-being of children and young people.
- Conduct home visits and assess families’ strengths and needs, creating personalised intervention plans that address immediate and ongoing risks.
- Work alongside the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) Caseworkers and other community networks to ensure the best outcomes for the families you serve.
- Respond to on-call needs as part of a roster, providing critical support to families when they need it most.
Your Qualifications & Experience
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field, with at least two years of experience working with at-risk children and families.
- Strong skills in risk assessment, case management, and building trust with families in crisis.
- Proven ability to engage families and help them achieve goals that prioritise child safety.
- Experience delivering support to children and families affected by domestic violence.
- Cultural competence when working with Aboriginal families and those from diverse backgrounds.
- Current NSW WWCC and NSW Driver’s license
