Catering Manager, Kilmalieu

WHO WE ARE

Kilmalieu is one of three centres run by the Abernethy Trust. Previously an outdoor activity centre, it is now being re-purposed as a Christian retreat centre. It is a place of prayer and hospitality, nature restoration and adventure. The Catering Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring that our guests enjoy tasty food during their stay.

The centre sits at the heart of a 3000 acre estate. It is a remote place, more than 10 miles from the nearest shop and almost 20 miles from Fort William. At the heart of our small team is a rhythm of prayer. We are passionate about hospitality, enabling our guests to go deeper in their journey of faith and experience the riches of an area of rugged beauty and rich biodiversity.

KEY ROLES

• To plan, manage and cook the serving of tasty food for guests at our residential retreat centre.
• To manage other staff and volunteers involved in preparing and serving food.
• Along with other team members, be prepared to assist with other hospitality-related duties when necessary.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Understanding of the value of Christian retreat and a love of nature.
• Ability to thrive in a small team in a remote place.
• Previous experience of catering for groups.
• Skills in planning and management.
• Ability to prioritise personal workload.
• Self-motivated, discreet, having a high level of initiative and attention to detail.

GOOD TO KNOW

• It is a genuine occupational requirement that the holder of this post is a practising Christian whose lifestyle is consistent with the values and doctrine of the Christian faith.
• As part of our commitment to safeguarding, the successful applicant will be required to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Scheme and the appointment will be subject to a satisfactory PVG Scheme Disclosure
