About the opportunity

The CBD Campus Officer is responsible for providing operational support to the CBD Campus Manager in the management the Business School CBD Campus facility, and assists Management Education staff with delivery of postgraduate programs at the Campus. The incumbent will operate under the general direction of the CBD Campus Manager to ensure the campus, facilities and reception area are operational for events and classes, as well as providing on-hand support for any issues that arise. This position is a Targeted position, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.

We are seeking candidates to create a casual pool of Campus Officers to support the Business School, who have the flexibility to work at both the CBD and Camperdown campuses. We are looking for candidates who may be available to work on a variety of projects at short notice and are happy with working irregular shifts. Hours may vary to accommodate events/classes on campus. It is important to note that this role will be on a casual basis. This role involves physical labour in setting up lecture rooms.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • provide front of house duties, administrative, operational and facility support

  • be the first point of contact for incoming enquiries via email, phone and face-to-face to ensure a high level of customer service is provided to CBD campus guests and students

  • assist academic and professional staff and guests with campus facilities or services including, but not limited to: security access, administrative support, printing, photocopying, use of kitchen equipment and air-conditioning

  • responsible for the set-up and break-down of lecture rooms and break-out spaces for workshops, seminars, events and classes. This includes the physical moves of furniture, including tables and chairs, with limited disruption to other campus activities

  • provide Audio Visual (AV) support and troubleshooting  set-up and assist the running of workshops, seminars and events

  • coordinate catering

  • undertake ad-hoc projects and other activities

About you

  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with a wide and diverse range of people

  • the ability to work autonomously

  • outstanding customer care skills with experience of managing a front-line customer service function

  • demonstrated ability to make sound and practical judgement when dealing with clients, contractors and staff members so as to avoid delays with maintenance and rectification works, and to meet expected deadlines thereby ensuring client satisfaction

  • excellent organisational skills with experience in the provision of administrative support

  • understanding of and ability to apply WHS policies and guidelines

  • physical ability to support the set-up and break-down of classrooms through moving furniture and equipment

  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people desired, but not necessary

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
