An exciting opportunity has come about for a number of CBT roles across Bolton IAPT services. Both part-time and full-time, fixed term and permanent roles available.You will be part of a busy IAPT service providing a mixture of face to face and virtual appointments as part of your role.The service offers a number of modalities across Step 2, Step 3 and Step 3+.Main duties of the jobAssess and deliver CBT treatment to clients with common mental health disorders, along with contributing towards service development and improvement.You may also be required to provide clinical supervision.About usGreater Manchester Mental Health (GMMH) Foundation Trust employs over6,400members of staff, who deliver services from more than160locations.We provide inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bolton, the city of Manchester, Salford,Trafford and the borough of Wigan, and a wide range of specialist mental health and substance misuse services across Greater Manchester, the north west of England and beyond.Greater Manchester is one of the world’s most innovative, original and exciting places to live and work. Person SpecificationEducationEssential

  • Qualification from High Intensity IAPT Course (Post Graduate Diploma) OR Equivalent: e.g. A recorded/registered doctoral level qualification in clinical or counselling psychology/ a recorded/registered qualification in one of the following – nursing, social work, occupational therapy or a psychological therapy – plus further post graduate diploma qualification in CBT from a recognised or accredited training provider
  • significant experience working as a psychological therapy practitioner and demonstrating the competences as required.

Desirable

  • Training in an additional therapeutic modality.

ExperienceEssential

  • Demonstrable experience of working in mental health services
  • Relevant experience in Primary Care settings treating anxiety and depression-related problems
  • Ability to meet agreed/specified activity and service targets
  • Ability to manage own caseload and time
  • Demonstrates high standards in written communication
  • Experience with routine outcome monitoring
  • Able to write clear reports and letters to referrers

Desirable

  • Worked in a service where agreed targets in place demonstrating clinical outcomes
  • Experience of teaching and liaising with other professional groups

KnowledgeEssential

  • Have an understanding of the need for, and current limitations of, evidence based psychological therapies
  • Possess knowledge of child and adult safeguarding procedures and other relevant legislation

Desirable

  • Have knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems

Skills & AbilitiesEssential

  • Have full range of skills and competencies as laid out in the competence framework for CBT (Roth and Pilling 2007)
  • Have well developed communication skills to effectively communicate, often complex and sensitive information, information orally and in writing.
  • Have received training in assessing risk (either formal of through experience) and carried out risk assessments within scope of their expected practice.
  • Be able to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients

Desirable

  • Accredited with a professional psychological therapy organisation

OtherEssential

  • There is a frequent requirement to travel, mainly within the local area, in order to provide clinics. An occasional requirement to travel across the wider footprint of the Trust to attend meetings and events relevant to the role.
  • An awareness of the diversity of the local population and a positive attitude to meeting the needs of different communities.

  • Experience of working with diverse communities and within a multicultural setting
