Work Context
CESVI is a secular and independent humanitarian organization, founded in Bergamo, Italy in 1985. CESVI works in 23 countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe, supporting the most vulnerable populations in the promotion of human rights, in the achievement of their aspirations, for sustainable development and in response to the most severe emergencies.
CESVI is registered in Ethiopia since 2018 and has been working in refugee camps in Tigray and with pastoralist communities in Oromia. In 2022, CESVI started operations in Amhara (COVID-19 prevention measures and income-generating activities for people with disabilities in conflict-affected areas), Harar, and Dire Dawa (promoting socio-economic integration of people on the move and potential migrants, with a focus on people with disabilities, along the Eastern Ethiopian migration route) and Beninshangul-Gumuz (in the Bambasi refugee camp). In May 2023, CESVI will start the project “Humanitarian / Development / Peace Nexus nelle comunità agropastorali sfollate e residenti nel Borena – Oromia (HUDEPE Borena)” – AID 12470, funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation.
Job Description
Overall responsibilities of the job: the overall responsibilities of the post are to play a leading role in cash voucher assistance, and market assessment, take part in different CVA platforms, and provide technical guidance for CESVI Fondazione ETS team and other stakeholders in the local area on matters related to CVA.
Responsibilities:
Implementation, Monitoring, and reporting
• Prepare and regularly review the DIP and procurement plan for the project.
• Ensure the CVA-related activities are implemented in accordance with the operational plan and as per the required standard.
• Engage in FSP mapping and market assessment regularly
• Working with senior project manager in organizing project launching review and closeout workshop.
• Regular monitoring visits to project sites; and provide technical backstopping to cash assistance, enumerators, and beneficiaries.
• Organize and facilitate various project level workshops and capacity building training for community groups pertinent line offices on CVA activities and related others.
• Develop clear beneficiary targeting criteria; ensure they are clearly communicated to target communities; receive complaint, feedbacks and act accordingly in consultation with the CFM expert and stakeholders.
• Develop standard operation procedures, training materials, monitoring formats and MoUs related to CVA interventions.
• Ensure the humanitarian standards (LEGS, CHS, Sphere) are adhered at all stages of the project cycle.
• Collect lessons learned, best practices, and support knowledge management.
• Prepare a case studies and human-interest stories for reporting and promotional purpose.
• Ensure the relevant stakeholders including line government offices and target communities are actively participating in the planning and implementation of the project activities.
• Actively participate in need assessment and produce the assessment finding reports
• Take part in project designing
• Closely follow up on the security situation and provide share information with CESVI Security focal point.
• Take part in baseline, PDM and end line data collection as guided by the Senior project manager and MEAL expert
• Prepare and submit regular monitoring report to the line manager as per the required timeline and template
• Document and disseminate learnings, best practices, and human-interest stories.
Representation and coordination
• When delegated by the senior project manager, participate in regional, zonal, district-level humanitarian coordination forums, meetings, and networks, and ensure CESVI Fondazione ETS adequate representation. Brief his immediate supervisor about the contents and outcomes of these coordination forums.
• Technically responsible for updating the CVA related information on local platforms
• Facilitate joint monitoring and review sessions with relevant stakeholders; produce, document, and disseminate learnings.
Accountability & Learning
• Ensure complaints and feedbacks from target communities and stakeholders are regularly received, and appropriate actions are taken by the project office.
• Ensure adherence to quality and accountability humanitarian standards (CHS, Sphere minimum standard, etc.),
• Make sure CESVI Fondazione ETS complaint and feedback mechanism is fully exercised, and complaints are welcomed and timely responded.
• Monitor and provide coaching to the projects’ staffs (cash assistance) to improve quality of project implementation at grassroot level
• Document and disseminate learnings, best practices, and human-interest stories in collaboration with MEAL expert and other CESVI team.
Other duties
• Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager

Essential requirements
- At least 5 years of working experience in Ethiopia
- Education, Degree in business and economics studies, international relations, sociology, development studies, or other related fields. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and Teams software, etc.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Optional requirements
Previous experience in working with International NGOs.
