Cetacean Conservation Biology Intern
Location of Position: Marin Headlands, Sausalito, California
Reports to: Associate Director, Cetacean Conservation Biology

This is a full-time, temporary, 6-month internship from March 1st to August 31st 2025.
Approximately 40 hours per week (hours can be dependent on weather and some weekend interning is expected).
Stipend: $1,300.00/mo.

Position Overview:
The Cetacean Conservation Biology Internship supports The Marine Mammal Center’s Cetacean Conservation Biology program by providing an educational opportunity for early career researchers looking to gain and refine their skills in sea-going research. The intern will participate in regular marine mammal surveys and support all aspects of survey preparation, data collection, and gain experience in data analysis. Research surveys are conducted from small vessels both in bay areas as well as offshore environments. The intern will receive training in small boat safety, photo-identification, line-transect data collection, and other tools and techniques necessary to conduct field research. Interns will also complete a research project aligned with Center objectives and their own marine mammal research interests. Other opportunities may be available depending on the season and the intern’s experience. Applicants from underrepresented backgrounds in marine mammal science are especially encouraged to apply.
