Position: Psychologist-Child Protection
 
Project Background
 
BOSCO Refugee Assistance Project is implemented by BOSCO Delhi in partnership with United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) catering to urban refugees and asylum seekers under the mandate of UNHCR from countries like Afghanistan, Myanmar, Somalia and other Nationals from Sudan, Eritrea, DRC, Iran, Iraq, and Palestine etc. The project provides support to refugees and asylum seekers in the field of Livelihood; Health; Psychosocial Support; Emergency and Shelter Support; Child Protection; Community Mobilization; Youth Initiatives and Community Campaigns; Prevention and Response to Sexual and Gender-Based Violence and Services to People with Specific Needs and DAFI scholarship.
 
Job Description
The Psychologist-Child Protection shall primarily be responsible for providing counselling support and therapy to the refugees and asylum seekers children with protection issues or at risk. The psychologist would report to the psychosocial coordinator and will be responsible for the case management of child protection cases through the Best Interests Process, including the compilation of Best Interest Assessment (BIA) and Best Interest Determination (BID) reports and coordination of action/care plans.
 
Key Deliverables:
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Identify, report and respond to child protection concerns among refugee and asylum seeker children.
  • Conduct thorough assessments, such as BIA & BID for unaccompanied minors, separated children and children with specific needs and vulnerabilities (such as, risk of abuse, neglect, exploitation and violence).
  • Visit local police stations, courts, CWC (child welfare committee), Childline office and other organizations/institutions to provide immediate legal action/assistance for the child protection cases.
  • Conduct psychological assessment, psychiatric assessment, comprehensive psychosocial and vulnerability assessment as per standards of UNHCR.
  • Conduct individual and group therapy sessions with the refugees and asylum seekers children at risk.
  • Conduct regular follow ups by conducting home visits/community visits for case management and assessment.
  • Plan case intervention in consultation with the psychosocial coordinator.
  • Support the self-approach cases with emergency interventions.
  • Daily update of records/ data/ reports and documentation of the clients.
  • Online updation of beneficiary details and the services on ProGres V4
Qualification:
Master’s degree in Psychology or Clinical Social Work from a regular college.
 
Experience:
Minimum one year experience in child protection case management or experience in the field of child protection prevention and response.
 
Skills and Competencies:
  • Fluency in English and Hindi
  • Proficient computer skills and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Positive attitude and readiness to work with a diverse group/setting
  • Willingness and ability to travel for field visits/ community visits/ home visits/ shelter home visits
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management
  • Good networking abilities with flair for building long-term partnerships
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Teamwork and organization skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions
  • Ability to work under pressure and disciplined
Remuneration: The selected candidate shall be paid a consolidated amount based on qualification and experience
 
Duration: The selected candidate will be hired for a fixed term contract period i.e. till 31st December 2024.
 
Location: Delhi-NCR
