Job Summary

The Child Friendly Space (CFS) Instructor is responsible to work alongside the other CFS Instructor in delivering daily curriculum and play activities to the children who attend the CFS at the Cornerstone Community Center. Activities include games, free play, arts and crafts, stories, lessons, and educational activities. S/he will ensure timely enrollment for each cycle, daily attendance records, and reporting of any concerns or issues to the CFS Trainer and Program Officer. This role aims to provide support education and activities that promote the physical and emotional development of children through values-based education. Samaritans Purse is looking for committed, hardworking applicants who love children and who have a passion to serve with dignity.

 

Job Duties:

  • Support in providing a safe and child-friendly atmosphere where children primarily ages 4-11 can engage in educational and recreational activities according to the provided curriculum.
  • Support daily activities including set-up and clean-up of classroom space before and after each session.
  • Assist children, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts. 
  • Create a nurturing environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and social interaction.
  • Assist leading classroom activities, utilizing a variety of methods including stories, lessons, and other structured games. 
  • May communicate with designated guardians regarding childrens behavior, progress, or any other issues when applicable.
  • Assist program team in recruiting participants, record daily attendance, and complete monitoring and evaluation tasks. 
  • Report all concerns regarding a child or their family to the Program Manager in a timely manner.
  • Attend and contribute to regular team meetings. 
  • Uphold SP Code of Conduct at all times.
  • All other duties as assigned by Program Officer and CFS Trainer

Education / Experience Needed

  • 1-3 years of experience teaching and/or working with children
  • Desire to work with children

 

LANGUAGE

  • Fluency in Kurdish required.
  • Proficiency in English and/or Arabic is a plus.
