About your new role:
This position is responsible for leading in the provision of quality pastoral and spiritual care in line with the Vision, Mission, Values, Theology of Care, and strategic objectives within a multicultural, multi-faith environment. This position is responsible for supporting staff and volunteers in the integration of pastoral and spiritual care in the context of the provision of customer centric care in a highly complex environment, in a way that celebrates our diversity and changing lifestyles.
Duties:
- Provide quality pastoral and spiritual care for residents and their families and, where relevant, home care and retirement living customers
- Ensure that all pastoral and spiritual care needs are regularly appraised. Coordinate appropriate responses to those needs by direct provision of support or by arranging and facilitating others. This may include presence, conversation, ritual, services, sacraments, ceremonies and sharing of sacred spaces and resources
- Provide integrated leadership working with Operational Line Managers, including attending clinical care meetings, family conferences, and assessing spiritual needs to ensure consistency of service delivery
- Recruit, train, coordinate and mentor a team of pastoral care volunteers
Skills and Experience:
- Qualifications in Theology, Ministry, Chaplaincy, Spiritual or Pastoral Care are highly desirable
- A special interest in working with older people, including in dementia and palliative care contexts
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in providing pastoral and spiritual care to people outside a faith community
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Competence in Microsoft Office and related software
- Flexibility and ability to work independently with minimum supervision, as well as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Valid unrestricted Australian Driver’s Licence
- Ability to pass an NDIS Screening Check
- Willingness to obtain or provide proof of up to date Influenza & three Covid-19 Vaccinations
- Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical, if required
