About the Role

We are currently looking for a casual motivated and passionate Chef to join the supportive and friendly team at Baptcare’s Amberlea Community located in Drouin. We are looking for dependable candidates who can work flexible hours including weekdays and weekends.

The Role of the Chef is to ensure that the meals and refreshments are delivered and provided to the residents that meet their individual nutritional needs and preferences. The chef is responsible for providing services that are in line with the Food Safety Program guidelines.

Key Duties

  • Contribute to the production of food items such as therapeutic diets, special meals etc.
  • Follow recipe cards and prepare defined menus in a timely manner.
  • Assist the Head Chef with the management of the food safety plan and it’s day-to-day compliance.
  • Assist with the management of stock items.
  • Ensuring meals and refreshments are provided that meet the resident’s individual needs.
  • Maintaining the Food Safety Program guidelines.
  • Ensuring all staff in the catering department maintain safe food handling practices.
  • Delivery of meals across dining areas within a residence.
  • Ability to work with other catering staff and assist with the preparation of basic food stuff if required or directed by supervisor.
  • Provide support to the retail café area or for functions and events within the residence.
  • Provide support for function planning and delivery. 

About You

You are passionate about continuing to grow your career in hospitality within the Residential Aged Care industry. Solution-focused and wanting to make a difference, you align your approach to strategise for achieving organisational and divisional goals.

Working as part of a close-knit team, you collaborate with and support others, demonstrating respect in your day-to-day actions.

You will ideally bring the following:

  • Relevant Industry Training – Food Handling and Hygiene Certificate.
  • Commercial cookery certificate III / IV.
  • Current police clearance and Statutory Declaration that does not preclude working in Aged Care
  • Previous experience and working knowledge of menu planning, ordering and special diet preparation
  • Previous experience working in catering in a residential aged care facility.
