Result of Service
For the SPP OEWG Secretariat • The ultimate result of services is to provide technical backstopping to the SPP OEWG process and meetings, support the development of communication outputs and ensure raising awareness and engagement of a broad set of stakeholders. Data and information collected will be used to inform and develop relevant documentation and support stakeholder/ scientists engagement . For the Knowledge and Risk Unit • The ultimate result of services is to support the implementation by UNEP of UNEA resolutions on the sound management of chemicals and waste, particularly with respect to the development of the report called for under Resolution 6/9 on lead, cadmium, arsenic and organotins for UNEA-7. Intermediate deliverables include a draft and revised annotated outline, as well as drafts of the above-mentioned document, including responses on the treatment of comments/feedback received.

Duties and Responsibilities
The individual contractor will prepare a workplan for the duration of the contract during the first month of the assignment. The detailed work plan will include deliverables by month. Each quarter, in order to account for adjustment of priorities, the workplan will be reviewed jointly with the direct supervisors. Report on the delivery of the workplan will be prepared at the end of each calendar month in combination with the monthly progress report to monitor and identify issues. For the SPP OEWG Secretariat (50% of time) • Objectives: The individual contractor will provide technical backstopping to the SPP process including OEWG 3.2, the Intergovernmental Meeting and the first session of the Governing Body of the Panel, support the development of communication outputs, and ensure raising awareness and engagement of a broad set of stakeholders. 1. Technical backstopping in the lead up to and during the upcoming meetings (OEWG 3.2, Intergovernmental Meeting, 1st Governing Body session of the Panel) 2. Engagement of stakeholder/scientists to support the work of the Panel The individual contractor will facilitate broader stakeholder and scientists’ engagement across various networks/initiatives/communities, including:For the Knowledge and Risk Unit (50% of time) 3. Communication The individual contractor will support the development of communications and awareness materials in the lead up to the planned OEWG, Intergovernmental Meeting and 1st Governing Body session of the Panel. In addition, the individual contractor will support the development of technical content for a planned set of webinars and preparatory meetings. For the Knowledge and Risk Unit (50% of time) Objectives: The individual contractor will support the implementation by UNEP of UNEA resolutions on the sound management of chemicals and waste, particularly with respect to the development of the report called for under Resolution 6/9 on lead, cadmium, arsenic and organotin.
Qualifications/special skills
Academic: Advanced university degree in a field related to Environmental Sciences (chemistry, chemical engineering, environmental studies, environmental management), or equivalent experience. A minimum of ten years of technical experience and expertise on hazardous chemicals and waste, pollution, impacts on human health and the environment, as well as social, policy and legal aspects related to hazardous chemicals and waste pollution. Languages
Fluency in English, including good drafting/writing skills is required. Working knowledge of other UN languages is an asset
