Job Description:

Minneapolis College, a vibrant and inclusive two-year community college in Minnesota, is accepting applications for a full-time, unlimited tenure-track Instructor of Chemistry starting fall semester of 2024.
Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Teaching a full-time load (30 credits per academic year) in chemistry. Courses include both lecture and lab of Introduction to Chemistry, General Chemistry, and maybe also Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry.
  • Delivering instruction with on-campus, blended and online modalities through Learning Management System such as D2L Brightspace. The schedule may include both daytime and evenings.
  • Holding 5 office-hours per week.
  • Providing quality instruction and services to a very diverse student population.
  • Engaging in ongoing professional development to stay current, in field knowledge and pedagogies that expand breadth and depth of understanding in the discipline.
  • Participating in departmental, school and college meetings to maintain collegial and cooperative work relationships with colleagues and all college personnel.
  • Participating in course, department, and institutional review, revision, and assessment projects.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree with a major in chemistry or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credits (27 graduate quarter credits) in chemistry.
  • Teaching and Learning Competency Requirement (to be completed within first three years of employment)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to teach chemistry courses to a diverse student population, with a minimum of one year of lecture/lab teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach effectively in various modalities, including on-campus, blended and online.
  • Proficiency with a Learning Management System such as D2L Brightspace.
  • Experience with operating and maintaining lab equipment.
  • Familiarity with improving an existing course or even developing a new course.
  • Proven understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, staff, administrators, and the communities that they serve.

  • Must be in good standing with Minneapolis College.

Benefits Info:

Salary: Full time faculty salaries currently range from $40,912 – $85,892 annually. Salary schedule placement is determined on the basis of education and experience and in accordance with the 2021-2023 Master Agreement between the Minnesota State Board of Trustees and the Minnesota State College Faculty.
