The Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) is the not-for-profit organisation responsible for training emergency physicians and for the advancement of professional standards in emergency medicine in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. As the peak professional organisation for emergency medicine, ACEM has a significant interest in ensuring the highest standards of medical care for patients are maintained in emergency departments across both countries. ACEM’s vision is to be the trusted authority for ensuring clinical, professional and training of the highest standard in the provision of quality, evidence-based, patient-centred emergency care.
Reporting to an engaged Board, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will lead a talented and committed team to deliver education, training, advocacy and member services to a broad range of stakeholders. The CEO will provide effective leadership to implement ACEM’s strategic plan and oversee College operation. The CEO will bring high EQ and will empower creative people through a lens of inclusivity, humanity and organisational accountability while working effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
To be considered, you’ll need to have the following knowledge, skills and experience:
- strong engagement, advocacy, and public speaking skills, with the ability to build effective stakeholder relationships that enhance the profile, membership and reputation of ACEM;
- experience in health, education, policy and advocacy or a related stream that is relevant to the core work of the College;
- advanced conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to provide high quality strategic and policy advice.
- contemporary strategic leadership and organisation management skills, with the ability to engage and inspire others;
- high level of emotional intelligence and an ability to manage and drive change across a creative and highly skilled workforce;
- deep knowledge of the external legislative and regulatory environment with an ability to respond with agility and flexibility;
- strong initiative, curiosity, quick uptake, and a solution-focus;
- a sophisticated communication skills with the ability to create compelling arguments, proposals and narratives;
- commitment to the principles of equal opportunity, workplace diversity and inclusion, and industrial democracy; and
- a focus on team, culture, and collegiate work practices.
