Katungul Aboriginal Corporation Regional Health and Community Services is a not-for-profit organisation providing culturally attuned, integrated health and community services on the Far South Coast of New South Wales.

Katungul Aboriginal Corporation Regional Health and Community Services (ACRH&CS) provides health care to the Koori people on the Far South Coast of New South Wales. It was first established when Ghuryungan, Markarling House and Narooma Community Centre – three Aboriginal communities – joined forces in 1993.

The aim of establishing Katungul Aboriginal Corporation Regional Health and Community Services – a community-controlled organisation was to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and provide culturally appropriate health care to the Koori people.

The CEO will play a pivotal role in steering Katungul under the strategic direction of the Board. The CEO is central to advancing Katungul’s mission, upholding the organisational values, and leading the team towards achieving the collective goals of members and stakeholders. The CEO will work in a demanding position, balancing project management tasks and responsibilities with operational tasks and responsibilities while building and cultivating relationships.

Qualifications, skills and experience

  • Post Graduate Tertiary qualification in Health Management, Finance management, Aged care or similar discipline
  • Experience in not-for-profit organisations in ACCHO
  • Demonstrated knowledge of strategic planning and achievement of strategic objectives
  • Demonstrated experience in ensuring an effective management system, policy and procedure framework and financial system for an organisation
  • Formulate strategic plans, manage budgets effectively, and deliver high-quality reports and advice to the Board.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team at a senior level
  • Exceptional communication skills to work effectively and positively with a wide variety of external stakeholders, community members and internal staff
  • Ensuring that the organisation is a leader in delivering efficient and effective business operations, risk management and financial performance.
  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and funding requirements.
  • Establishment of core organisational values and ensuring these values are reflected in all aspects of the organisation and communicated to all stakeholders.
  • Creating, implementing and maintaining high quality and service performance standards and developing systems to build key relationships and improve operational efficiency.
  • Leading, developing and growing staffing cohort ensuring appropriate training, skills development and mentoring and promoting a strong team working environment to ensure clients receive the highest quality service.
  • Implementing and driving organisational culture and innovation.
  • Managing the operational and strategic decision-making process and provide authoritative advice to the Board of Directors in relation to operational matters and organisational performance.
  • Provide visionary leadership and direct operations to ensure alignment with Katungul’s objectives and cultural values.
  • Maintain and enhance relationships with community members, government entities, and external partners to promote and support Katungul’s objectives.
  • Oversee the management of all organisational activities, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, funding requirements, and our internal governance.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the diverse staff, with a focus on continuous improvement and professional development, particularly for Aboriginal team members.
  • A current C Class unrestricted NSW Drivers Licence
  • Undergo a new National Criminal Police Check
  • Cleared NSW Working with Children Check
