Your Impact
In this newly created strategic leadership role, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be pivotal in securing the future growth, returns, and financing of Birdlife Australia. Collaborating closely with the CEO, Executive Leadership Team and the Board, the CFO will develop the financial strategy to increase BirdLife Australia’s impact and support the delivery of the Bird Conservation Strategy.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop and monitor the implementation of the organisation’s financial strategy in conjunction with the CEO and Board
- Provide strategic, economic and valuable financial advice to the CEO and Board on revenue growth and sustainability, investment opportunities and capital structure
- Manage financial risk through robust controls and strong governance
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiencies of financial and corporate management systems
- Manage and oversee internal audits, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting
What you bring
You are a seasoned strategist who is results driven with substantial experience in senior financial management roles. You are an innovative thinker who has a demonstrated history of success in strengthening the financial standing of organisations through expert analysis, revenue growth and change management. Previous experience working within the non-profit sector will be highly regarded.
Key skills:
- Formal qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Business Accounting, or Economics and CPA or CA
- A natural and authentic leader with a strong sense of integrity and business ethics who can inspire teams
- Strong understanding of corporate governance, risk management and accounting principles, coupled with a keen commercial acumen
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate and partner with a diverse range of stakeholders from operations to Board
- Sound decision making ability based on accurate and timely information and analysis
