Chief of Party – Indonesia Climate Change Adaptation Activity

Core Responsibilities

  • Provides overall technical leadership, management oversight and strategic direction for the activity;
  • Serves as the primary liaison with USAID/Indonesia, other key US Government organizations, regional organizations, private sector institutions, senior local government officials and counterparts, and the donor community;
  • Supervises the activity’s senior technical team to ensure a focus on core results, achievements of annual work plan and targets, and timely/effective implementation of activities to achieve the activity’s objectives;
  • Supervises the project’s operations leadership, responsible for day-to-day activity operations including finance, accounting, procurement, grants management, recruiting and HR functions in compliance with USAID, US Government, and Abt Associates policy and regulations;
  • Monitors the progress and pace of the activity’s implementation, assuring that the full potential of the activity is realized through the promotion of high-quality work and internal control;
  • Responsible for ensuring activity deliverables and reporting, such as annual and quarterly reports, meet high quality standards set by USAID and Abt Associates;
  • Oversees achievement of the project’s communications strategy, with project staff and consultants leading development of communications products including public relations campaigns, targeted campaigns for the private sector, and the development of success stories.

What We Value

  • Bachelor’s Degree + Fifteen years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree + Twelve years of relevant experience, or PhD + Ten years of relevant experience;
  • Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of development, business, or other related field;
  • At least 12 years of experience managing climate change adaptation and/or disaster risk reduction-related development activities;
  • Substantial experience leading complex USAID or other donor-funded projects, preferably in Asia;
  • Substantial experience working with the private sector in support of development activities;
  • Experience in Asia, preferably in Indonesia;
  • Strong ability to manage and deal with diverse stakeholders;
  • Fluent in written/spoken English.
