FHI 360 is currently recruiting for the position of Chief of Party (COP) for an anticipated USAID-funded integrated youth activity to enable marginalized and vulnerable Malian youth, particularly young women with disabilities, to become educated, health and productive citizens while building their resilience to recurrent crises. Shifin ni Tagne will provide youth with the foundational skills needed to prepare them to become agile learners, able to adapt and learn new things in a rapidly changing environment. The project will provide youth, particularly adolescent girls and young women with disabilities, with the skills and knowledge to access sexual and reproductive (SRH) services and practice health behaviors. Additionally, Shifin ni Tagne will provide Malian youth with the relevant workforce readiness, vocational, and entrepreneurial skills to succeed as market actors in the agriculture and livestock value chains, vocational trades, sanitation and green jobs in their communities.
Job Summary:
The COP will provide leadership and oversight for a consortium of national and international partners with a focus on managing project timelines, budgets and deliverables, ensuring compliance with funder and national regulations, and fostering a safe and equitable working environment. The COP will serve as the project’s principal contact point for USAID and will be the project’s main in-country contact for government counterparts, donors, local partners, media, private sector partners, civil society and other key stakeholders. He or she will be expected to identify challenges and risks and work with other key personnel to adapt programming in a complex operating environment.
The COP will be responsible for developing and maintaining the overall technical vision, strategy, and direction of the project, assuming responsibility for design, delivery, and progress against the approved work plan, and reporting against performance monitoring plan. The COP will work with the senior management team to ensure overall planning, implementing, and managing of the project and establishing the administrative framework to monitor and assure progress toward achieving project goals and objectives. The COP will regularly interface with USAID on management and decision-making while ensuring that activities are meeting USAID and stakeholder expectations and that project results are proactively disseminated.
The COP will be responsible for ensuring the timely and quality completion of all program technical and financial deliverables and reports in accordance with USAID guidelines; assisting with analysis and communications regarding resource management; and ensuring coordination with Mission and other donor initiatives. S/he will serve as the leadership and public face of project initiatives in public communication, outreach, and networking. S/he will be expected to identify issues and risks related to the activity implementation in a timely manner, and to suggest appropriate activity adjustments.
The position will be based in Bamako, Mali. Employment is contingent upon successful award of the project to FHI 360, as well as USAID approval of the finalist. This duty station has been designated as high risk or extreme risk and poses a heightened risk or direct threat to personal safety.
