Buurabalayji Thalanyji Aboriginal Corporation (BTAC) is the Registered Native Title Body Corporate (RNTBC) for the Thalanyji People through Native Title Determination WCD2008/003.
BTAC is seeking a Chief Operating Officer who will play a pivotal role in managing BTAC’s operations and ensures they run smoothly. This role works closely with heads of departments and the CEO to develop strategies that will optimise operating capabilities, maximise stakeholder satisfaction to meet strategic and business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Alongside senior management assist in the preparation of annual budgets and monthly monitoring and analysis of P&L’s.
- Participate in the development and preparation of short-term and long-term plans that align to BTAC’s Strategic plan, business goals and objectives.
- Drive BTAC’s operational strategies, to optimize operating capabilities.
- Appraise and evaluate the results of overall operations regularly and report these results to the CEO.
- Manage and grow a high performing team.
- Work alongside the CFO to Introduce initiatives to control costs.
- Ensure highly productive, day-to-day operations of the organization.
- Ensures that all activities and operations are performed in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws governing business operations, and Agreement.

Selection Criteria
Essential:
- High level understanding of agreements and contracts;
- Experience in Corporate Governance and compliance.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to work with a range of stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise high level judgement and discretion, and to manage corporate compliance.
- High level of business acumen.
- Exceptional organisational skills and focus, including capacity to prioritise tasks effectively and efficiently and manage time in accordance with strict deadlines, with meticulous accuracy and attention to detail.
- Cultural competence, particularly with Aboriginal people.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite.
Desirable:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a business-related field
- Prior experience as COO, Head of Operations or similar role
