Centre ValBio Administrator (Based in Madagascar)
Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor’s Degree (or foreign equivalent or higher). Four (4) years of full-time administrative experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role in a scientific and/or research environment (e.g., environmental or humanitarian NGO, research center, medium-to-long term community-based projects). Experience managing the major business-related aspects of a research and education center, including experience managing budgets, facilities, and personnel. Community outreach experience. Experience managing complex projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree (or foreign equivalent or higher) in business administration, human resources, international relations, or related fields. Professional working proficiency in French. Working knowledge of Malagasy. Expertise and experience in project management and/or business administration in sub-Saharan continental Africa or Madagascar. Experience planning, managing, and executing events. Community outreach experience in a low-income country.
Brief Description of Duties:
Centre ValBio is a world-class research center created to help both Indigenous people and the international community better understand the value of conservation in Madagascar and around the world through research, training and education. It encourages responsible use of natural resources to promote sustainable development in Madagascar.
As this position is responsible for overseeing various areas of operation at the Centre ValBio campus in Ranomafana, Madagascar, the successful applicant is expected to be a dynamic leader with a proven track record in the development, implementation and execution of programs, activities and services under their management.
Working closely with Centre ValBio’s Executive Director and other key staff both in Madagascar and at Stony Brook University, the successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational skills with an exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the capacity to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving. Experience effectively multi-tasking with a high degree of accuracy and organization as well as experience interacting with a culturally and ethnically diverse population is essential for this role.
Note, this position is 100% based in Ranomafana, Ifanadiana, Madagascar, home to Centre ValBio and the Ranomafana National Park.
