The role:
Reporting into the Program Manager, TraCS, a Child and Family Consultant collaborates closely with educators and early childhood staff for children aged 3-5 years and deliver trauma informed support to kindergartens and early childhood services in locations across metro and western Melbourne and the Southeast region. Attendance at the Alannah & Madeline Foundation Head Office in South Melbourne is required for key events.
This role is part-time ongoing with the possibility of full-time, we promote flexible working arrangements, emphasising that work remains the primary focus, tailored to individual needs, role requirements, and the commitment to high-quality work delivery.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide reflective practice and coaching for early childhood staff
- Support teachers and early childhood educators to provide safe and supportive learning environments for children
- Support strategies within the kindergarten which create connection and defuse conflict
- Develop plans which support children in the development of pro-social skills
- Support kindergartens to work through non-attendance barriers of enrolled children and support transition to school where required
Experience required:
- An appropriate tertiary qualification in Social Work with eligibility for membership of professional organisation or relevant social welfare qualification
- Minimum 5 years’ experience providing high quality, complex case management to children, youth, and families in the context of violence or abuse and trauma
- Demonstrated knowledge of best practice models and theories relating to children, families, trauma and violence or abuse
- Demonstrated experience in translating relevant and emerging knowledge and theory into practice
- Hold a current drivers’ license and willingness and ability to use own vehicle (expense reimbursement provided)
