About the Position

We are looking to welcome a Child and Family Consultant to provide consultation, assessments, advice and input that will provide better outcomes for children and families.

The Assessment and Service Connect (ASC) initiative is a multi-agency, multi-disciplinary approach developed as a new way of working between Child Safety Services, other government agencies and the non-government sector.

  • Part time 0.8FTE (60.8h f/n) opportunity.
  • Level 5 under the SCHCADS award. Salary range is $93,860 – $98,112 (pro-rata) plus super.
  • Role is government funded until 31 December 2025 with possible extension.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain working relationships with Child Safety as referrers and partners in the ASC co-response.
  • Respond on referrals and provide expert opinion and consultation on referrals, processes and service connections.
  • Actively engage referred families in the ASC co-response process in line with operational guidelines.

About You

  • A tertiary degree in a relevant discipline (allied health, psychology, social work, human services).
  • Professional registration (if required) and membership of a relevant professional association (desirable).
  • At least five years’ experience working with children, young people and their families who have been impacted by trauma or have experienced abuse and neglect, or more than five years’ experience working in similar roles.
  • Experience with Department of Child Safety and undertaking holistic assessments.

Other Requirements

  • Eligibility for a Working with Children Check or professional exemption.
  • Current driver’s licence.
  • Legally able work in Australia (proof of eligibility will be requested).
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved medical exemption.
