JOB SUMMARY:

This position’s primary role is focused on capacity development and providing specialized technical support to contribute to high-quality child protection programming. The role is responsible for leading training and supporting child protection staff and/or partner organizations to strengthen capacity for child protection prevention and response. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation.

Annual Salary : (18, 000 $)

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Planning:

  • Work closely with the child protection leadership team to achieve program goals.
  • Coordinate with partner agencies, as relevant, to organize training and support capacity-building needs.
  • Support recruitment of new staff to strengthen organizational capacity for child protection prevention and response services.
  • Ensure adherence to IMC’s Child Protection Minimum Standards, as well as relevant inter-agency guidelines and
    standards.
  • Coordinate with Logistics and other departments to plan training, workshops, and mentoring activities.

Capacity Building:

  • Lead direct trainings and ToTs in child protection response for partners, volunteers, and focal points.
  • Lead training in child protection case management.
  • Lead training in child protection core concepts.
  • Lead other technical training, as needed.
  • Lead both remote and in-person trainings.
  • Coordinate with MHPSS and GBV teams for integrated capacity-building initiatives.
  • Provide technical supervision, support, and mentoring to child protection staff.
  • Provide specialized guidance and advice to child protection staff, utilizing reflective practice to support improved and high-quality child protection services

Project Management:

  • Conduct regular monitoring and evaluation of training and track participation.
  • Plan and procure supplies required for trainings, in line with budget and project timelines.
  • Contribute to regular program reports, on time and with accurate data.
  • Ensure compliance with donor regulations.

Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Seek and analyze community feedback and adapt activities accordingly.
  • Monitor and document prevention and risk mitigation program activities.
  • Contribute to the application and assessment of child protection minimum standards.
  • Provide technical support and guidance in relation to best practices within child protection programs.
  • Contribute to internal and external reports.

Coordination, Advocacy, and Representation:

  • Coordinate regularly with the child protection leadership and participate, as required, in broader team meetings.
  • Advocate for children’s rights and promote awareness of child protection issues within the community.
  • Participate in internal and external coordination meetings, as relevant, always promoting child protection principles.
  • Represent program goals and child protection standards.

Security and Conduct:

  • Ensure compliance with security protocols and policies.
  • Foster a safe and supportive working environment for all child protection staff, volunteers, and partners.
  • Exemplify core principles of child protection programming.
  • Contribute to the positive image and overall credibility of the program and organization, notably through adherence to the.
  • Code of Conduct and Ethics, including compliance with anti-harassment, safeguarding, and PSEA policies.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Typically, a bachelor’s degree in a related field e.g. psychology, social work, or education. An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
  • Typically, 5+ years of relevant and progressive experience in child protection-related areas, ideally in humanitarian programs.
  • Demonstrated application of child protection core competencies and commitment to core principles of child protection programming.
  • Familiarity with child development.
  • Strong knowledge of standard child protection technical resources and approaches.
  • Familiarity with child protection case management services.
  • Experience in staff capacity building.
  • Training and facilitation experience including experience in the development of training materials.
  • Familiarity with government, NGO, and CBO service providers.
  • Relevant regional experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with local partners and community mobilization preferred.
  • Profound cross-cultural awareness.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, remain flexible, and apply experience and guidance to evolving challenges.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English and other local language as required.
  • Good interpersonal and advocacy skills
