What you’ll do
As our Childrens Group Facilitator, you will focus on fostering connections between children and parents through play-based learning and the delivery of the Circle of Security framework. This position requires a sound understanding of child development and attachment theory to support parents and children in building healthy relationships. You will:
- Facilitate engaging and interactive group sessions for children and parents, emphasising play and its role in building strong connections
- Deliver the Circle of Security framework to guide parents in understanding their children’s emotional and attachment needs
- Provide education and support to parents, helping them implement effective parenting strategies that foster secure attachment
- Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where children and parents can bond and grow together
- Observe and assess the dynamics between children and parents to offer tailored guidance and support
- Handle any challenges or concerns that arise during sessions with professionalism and sensitivity
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of group sessions and progress
- promote diversity and cultural sensitivity by incorporating inclusive practices in all group activities, ensuring respect and understanding for different cultural perspectives
The details:
- Causal role based in the Blacktown region
- $48-$58 per hour + super + salary packaging benefits (based on skills and experience)
- Availability to work Saturdays
What you’ll bring
- Relevant qualifications in counselling, psychology, social work, health promotion, adult education, community welfare or similar field including group work training
- Understanding of working within a trauma informed framework
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with families
- Demonstrated ability to manage group dynamics and facilitate positive interactions between parents and children
- Understanding of child development and attachment theory, with experience in delivering the Circle of Security framework is desirable
- Training and experience in working in an educational context with children in any of the following areas:
- Working with domestic violence;
- Parenting groups;
- Children/Youth in groups
