Responsibilities:
- Day-to-day responsibility for managing church choir; organising rehearsals, song selection, and arranging performances.
- With the Pastor’s oversight, create and lead music department of the church in line with the Church’s values and statement of belief.
- Select, train, and inspire a choir of volunteers (including adult and youth singers) to minister during praise and worship sessions and at special events.
- Develop resources to nurture the spiritual growth of congregation through music ministration.
- Putting together appropriate programmes for the choir’s public concerts and other performances, whether these are performed solely by the Choir or shared programmes with other choirs, bands, or ensembles.
- Plan and implement creative and effective programmes to engage adult and youth members, including Sunday School programs, youth choir, and musical ensembles.
- Work with church pastors to build momentum and innovative programmes.
- Create and maintain program budgets and fundraising plans.
- Attending and providing a report for the Annual General Meeting.
- Church members are predominantly of Ghanaian descent with the local Twi dialect as their mother tongue and English as a second language, therefore the choir director has to be bilingual in both English and Twi in order to fully engage with the congregation.

Essential/Preferred Criteria
- Have a strong Christian faith, seek the presence of the Holy Spirit, and be devoted to the Word of God
- Shares the vision and values of My Father’s House, Telford, and be committed to our Statement of Belief
- Knowledge of a wide range of Twi gospel repertoire
- Flexible and adaptable approach, teachable and having a spirit of humility
- Has knowledge of strategies to recruit new members and retain existing members
- Must be/become an active member of My Father’s House, Telford and attend weekly church meetings

- Demonstrates excitement, enthusiasm and vitality
- Good humoured and personable
- Shows patience and empathetic understanding of the choir’s and individuals’ needs
- Able to challenge under-performance in a supportive and diplomatic way

Work Hours
The role will require 15-20 hours per week inclusive of weekly church services.
Salary and Conditions
National Minimum Wage. There is a 6-month probationary period with reviews after 1 month, 3 months and 6 months.
