Mission Aviation Fellowship

Job title:

Church Engagement & Volunteer Coordinator

Company

Mission Aviation Fellowship

Job description

Overview

Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is an organisation using light aircraft to deliver help, hope and healing through aviation in over 25 low income countries. For more than 75 years, MAF has been transporting patients, relief workers, produce and medical supplies to the world’s remotest regions and places of deepest human need – places where flying is not a luxury but a lifeline.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic fundraiser with experience of inspiring, leading and managing volunteers. You will help drive forward MAF’s reach, by cultivating strong relationships with churches and other community groups throughout Scotland to raise awareness of the work of MAF. The primary focus will be to expand MAF’s presence in Scotland, engage new audiences by fostering meaningful connections and partnerships with church leaders and delivering presentations in churches and other groups. Additionally you will spearhead the MiC (Scotland) Volunteer Programme, aligning it with MAF UK’s strategic objectives and church engagement strategies to bolster prayer support, donated income, and recruitment to overseas roles, by growing our volunteer base to facilitate more opportunities to speak in churches and other community groups.

Responsibilities

Your Key Responsibilities will include:

Increasing and maintaining church engagement by:

  • Enhancing existing church relationships and identify opportunities to expand MAF’s presence with new and emerging churches in Scotland.
  • Participating in speaking engagements and presentations with a specific focus on reaching out to new audiences to grow prayer support, donated income and recruitment to overseas roles, representing MAF and setting an example of best practice for the MiC (Scotland) volunteer speaker team.
  • Promoting MiC (Scotland’s) Church Resources with a view to increasing opportunities for MAF to engage with churches and church groups, particularly focusing on ‘new’ and ‘emerging’ churches.
  • Supporting the MiC (Scotland) staff team in attending and organising various MAF engagement events, including Church Partnership events, MAF Youth events, and participation in larger gatherings and festivals, utilising MiC (Scotland’s) many resources to attract new donors and supporters.

Inspiring, managing and coodinating volunteers by:

  • Evaluating and delivering the MiC (Scotland) Volunteer Programme (Volunteer Pathways), ensuring high quality service to supporters, churches and organisations aligned with MAF’s values and aims, making adjustments for success.
  • Collaborating with the MiC (Scotland) Team Leader, identify, train and support volunteers to have the essential skills to achieve the MAF UK strategic objectives and church engagement strategies. Act as the primary management and support contact for the volunteer team on a daily basis. Assist in developing a volunteer recruitment campaign to grow volunteer engagement in Scotland, moving towards a ‘volunteer-led, staff-supported’ ministry delivery model for MAF in Scotland.
  • Overseeing the annual MiC (Scotland) Volunteer’s Conference, as well as organise other volunteer events throughout the year to offer support, recognition and networking opportunities, following the Volunteer Pathways guidelines.

Other Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the delivery team of Church Partnerships, community events and Christian events/festivals as required.
