Director, Natural Climate Solutions Policy

POSITION SUMMARY – This position is preferably based in Singapore. Other locations: Japan (remote) or Australia (remote).
The Natural Climate Solutions (NCS) Policy Director will implement long-term public policy and government engagement strategies, programs, and initiatives to support the achievement of CI’s policy goals. Focus will be on influencing the design of international and domestic climate policy frameworks – including but not limited to carbon market, jurisdictional REDD+, and nesting policies.
The Director will be part of the Center for Policy and Incentives (CPI) team, which leads CI’s engagement in international policy arenas and works directly with CI country programs to implement key policies at the national level. They will work closely with colleagues in the CPI team to lead or contribute, depending on subject matter, to the development of CI policy analysis, positions, briefings, recommendations, and serve as a recognized resource for staff and decision-makers for CI priority agenda. They will also work with colleagues to contribute to the development of strategies for engaging government to advance policy priorities and will support fundraising opportunities to help advance CI’s policy and conservation priorities. Serve as a liaison to CI teams in the region working on other policy matters including oceans and biodiversity.
In addition to working closely with colleagues in CPI, They will work collaboratively with the Moore Center for Science andSolutions, Center for Oceans, Nature Finance Group and country programs to formulate and champion innovative strategies,programs, and initiatives that engage key governments and stakeholders (e.g., NGOs, UN bodies, aid agencies, developmentbanks, philanthropies, corporate partners) to effectively inform and influence policy.
