Description:

The Erbil Citadel is a historical site located in the heart of Erbil, Iraq. The Citadel is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is of great cultural and historical significance to the region. The Central Alley and Visitor Routes at Erbil Citadel require development and urban enhancement to improve accessibility and visitor experience. The project aims to develop and enhance the Central Alley and Visitor Routes, while preserving the cultural and historical significance of the site.

KOHRW in partnership with UNESCO implements Development and Urban Enhancement of the Central Alley and Visitor Routes at Erbil Citadel, Iraq. The Specific Objectives of the action are:

  1. To improve self-reliance through access to immediate short-term decent employment opportunities for Syrians in the cultural heritage sector through Employment Intensive schemes in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
  2. To set the basis for an enabling environment for entrepreneurship development in the cultural heritage sector.
  3. The duration of the contract is for 2 months with the possibility of extension.

 Job Title: Civil Engineer.

Responsibilities

 

  • Assist in the planning, design, and implementation of civil engineering aspects for the project, including road construction, water and wastewater management, and site grading.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical specifications, drawings, and cost estimates for civil engineering works.
  • Work closely with other project team members, including architects, electrical engineers, and contractors, to ensure that civil engineering works are integrated into the project design and implemented in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor the progress of civil engineering works and ensure that they meet project requirements and safety standards.
  • Conduct technical assessments of existing civil engineering systems and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide technical support and advice to the project team on civil engineering works and related issues.

 

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in civil engineering, preferably in construction.
  • Strong technical skills in civil engineering design and implementation.

Knowledge of international civil engineering codes and standards
