Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented and hardworking Civil Technologist (CAD Designer) for immediate employment based in the London, Ontario office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Work both within a design team and independently to assist in preparing detailed design drawings for municipal infrastructure improvement projects, water resource projects, private infrastructure projects for residential subdivision and industrial/commercial developments.

  • Assist in the detailed design of storm and sanitary sewers, water distribution systems, roads reconstruction and site grading, earthworks and stormwater management.

  • Create drawings for municipal infrastructure including plans, profiles, sections, earthworks calculations and drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D.

  • Assist with redlines/revisions for in-progress and completed designs.

  • Deliver work based on project specific budget and schedule constraints.

  • Assure that engineering related issues are promptly relayed to the Project Manager for action and follows up to assure timeliness of resolution efforts.

  • Assist with construction inspection duties, and support Construction Administration staff.

  • Make decisions based on a general understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve results and to meet project deadlines.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • College accredited diploma plus 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Strong AutoCAD Civil 3D design experience including modelling of corridors, surfaces, and pipe networks.

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-year College Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology

  • 5+ years of related experience

  • Experience using BIM360, ProjectWise, Microsoft Teams/ SharePoint, or other document management software.

  • Experience with field surveying techniques.

  • Experience providing construction inspection duties.

  • Understanding of municipal and provincial design and construction standards and specifications.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Certified or eligible for certification as a C.E.T and a member of the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT)

  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and clients.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment.
