Position Overview

Under the supervision of the senior operations’ manager, the SHO Clearance Site Supervisor is responsible for implementing clearance plans and managing clearance teams, each consisting of a team leader, Deminer, and a medic at a clearance site.  He/she will supervise daily clearance activities at the sites under the management of the Operations’ Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Conducting day-to-day oversight and management of all technical mine action activities of the teams allocated to the position, in order to ensure the team is operating as per SHO’s operations’ SOP’s and policies.
• Ensuring all Clearance Operations onsite are conducted in accordance with the Task Implementation Plan (TIP), in order to adhere and be prepared for the DMA spot checks and reach a zero non-conformity of the spot check.
• Conducting on daily basis quality risk level assurance and QA/QC control checks of the task sites as detailed in SHO SOP’s, in order to increase the level of safety at the work site and in order to ensure a high level of technical clearance.
• Ensuring and overseeing the training of an ‘Accident Response Plan’ to cover the safe recovery, stabilization and evacuation to suitable medical facility of a mine accident victim, in order to ensure an on the place first aid and to maintain a minimum time to reach a medical services facility.
• Ensuring on daily basis that the security of all equipment and personnel is maintained.
• Checking with the security governmental authorities to obtain the oral approval that the concerned field area is secured to conduct demining operations.
• Deputizing the IEDD when needed, making sure to adhere to same policies, rules, and standards the IEDD is committed to.
• Controlling, receiving and briefing of all visitors to an EOD clearance task in the absence of the Team Leader. And deputies the Team Leader in case of his/her absences.
• Conducting RSP during the absence of the IEDD operator and/ support the IEDD operator when needed to conduct RSP, in order to keep the flow of field operations safe, secured, and continuous.
• Ensuring any demolition activities are conducted safely and in accordance with SHO SOP’s, in order to maintain a zero level of error and risk and in order to increase the level of safety and security on the field.
• Ensuring that all Team reports and returned assets are compiled and sent to the appropriate recipients within the specified deadlines. This includes electronic (KOBO) and paper formats, in order to check that all daily collected information are factored in the concerned field reports and that that the equipment are functioning according to the set standards.
• Conducting day to day task delegation to the team, in order to ensure a balanced spread of work load and activities.
• Checking the site folders minimum 2 to 3 times a week, in order to make sure if it is accurately filled and on time.
• Compiling reports and documentation as require by the Operations’ Manager Assistant within the specified deadlines on daily and weekly basis.
• Enforcing and adhering to the technical guidelines as laid down in SHO SOP’s, SHO Quality Management and Workplace Safety Policies.
• Ensuring the level of work skills is maintained within the teams allocated to his/her supervision through QA filled forms on weekly basis and follow up and compare the level of skills with the previously filled QA forms.
• Evaluating the work performance of the team as per the set deadline and policy set by the HR.
• Manage and motivate the operations’ team members through daily, weekly, follow up meeting, and monthly in meeting in the presence of Operations Meeting, in order to yearly keep a high ratio of the team retention.
• Ensure and supervise the managing, maintaining and organizing IED and UXO store by the clearance Team
• Any Other Tasks Required by he Line Manager.

Other Requirement: 

• Completion of EOD Level 4 is required for the position.
• Applicants must have at least two years of experience as a Clearance Site Supervisor or in a higher position such as Operations Manager within the Mine Action field.
• Basic computer skills are essential.
• proficiency in English language at a basic level.
