Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This a temporary or on-call position. Provides clerical support. Responsibilities may include secretarial, receptionist, bookkeeping, information processing or related clerical tasks. Temps On-Campus: includes College of Human Medicine, the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Detroit Medical Center, and the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Macomb University CenterTerm. On campus temps can work six (6) months then terminate for three (3) months or switch to an oncall. Off campus temps can continuously work nine(9) month appointment with a one (1) week break in between. On-Call allowed to work up to 40 hours/week for three (3) months then must be moved down to 19 hours/week and cannot work more than 520 hours in any six (6) month period.

Unit Position Summary

This posting includes two positions. One is expected to be 100%, while the other is expected to be filled at 50% time. Both are hybrid work positions.  The positions are expected to work on campus a portion of the work week. The work schedule for these positions will include hours that fall within 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The individual(s) selected for the role(s) will mutually arrange with the hiring manager the work hours and on campus presence that fit the business needs of the position in alignment with their own needs.

In these temporary roles, the successful candidates will process employment transactions and postings in the HR/Payroll and Applicant Tracking Systems for Temporary and On-Call employment groups. This position will also process student employment transactions and consult with units on a variety of contract provisions, policies, and laws relevant to employment with the university. 

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Processing employment transactions in the HR/Payroll System and Applicant Tracking System.
  • Assist in helping departments understand employment policy, contractual and legal compliance.
  • Reviewing Criminal Background Check (CBC) results and I-9s.
  • Researching and reviewing employee records and collectively working with other teams to resolve issues.
  • Processing timely reports that affect the records of students and temporary/on-call employees.
  • Serve as a liaison with the Payroll Office and Enterprise Business systems regarding pay issues for student employees and temporary/on-call employees.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the HR Payroll system on related processes and policy changes for student and temporary/on-call employees.
  • Additional cross functional support including but not limited to on-site support duties such scanning, indexing, auditing and securely destroying documents in accordance with our records retention policies.
