Climate Action Lead

Cotswolds National Landscape

tendersglobal.net

It is an exciting time to join the Cotswold National Landscape (CNL) team, we have bold
ambitions for the future.

Our Vision for the Cotswolds was produced in the light of three
interlinked key issues:

The Climate emergency – adapting to and playing a full part in mitigating the
effects of climate change whilst maintaining the special qualities of the National Landscape.

Nature’s decline and the ecological crisis – enabling wildlife to flourish and
adapt to climate change through a robust nature recovery network which additionally provides us
with clean air and water, and healthy soils.

Health and societal changes – ensuring that livelihoods are maintained and
that everyone within and around the National Landscape can realise the health and wellbeing
benefits of accessing its natural beauty.

Are you seeking a role where your expertise can help us meet our Climate Crisis
Commitment?

A greenhouse gas emissions assessment for the CNL has been completed and the pathway towards
net zero is emerging – this is a unique opportunity for a passionate individual to lead the
charge in transforming climate change and sustainability ambitions into impactful, tangible
results within a Protected Landscape (the CNL is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural
Beauty).

You will be responsible for shaping and leading the Board’s strategic work on climate change
mitigation and adaptation. This new role will lead, facilitate and support initiatives that
help to deliver the pathway to net zero in the CNL.

This role has a diverse range of strategic and operational responsibilities, so we are looking
for someone with the ability to innovate and be curious, with a strong desire to succeed.

Delivery: Strive to ensure that there is a collective and unified approach to
climate action across the CNL, by developing our network with key organisations,
decision-makers and individuals, facilitating a cross sector approach.

Strategy: Be at the forefront of shaping the sustainability agenda in the
context of operating within a Protected Landscape. Lead the development and production of a CNL
Climate Adaptation Plan.

Team Working: Work closely with team members and colleagues across the network
of protected landscapes (National Landscapes, National Parks and National Trails), as well as
local and central government to fully understand regional and national priorities and policies.

Expertise: Act as the go-to person on climate change and sustainability
matters. Your insights will shape key decisions and drive positive action; you’ll provide a
hands-on and collaborative approach to driving change.

Engagement: Communicate with new and existing audiences about climate change
and the interaction with our changing landscape – ensuring our messaging reaches a diverse
audience.

Financial innovation: Seek to identify opportunities for high integrity green
finance investment in Nature-based Solutions, developing relationships with relevant specialist
organisations and potential investors, buyers and sellers.

This role is suitable for candidates who can demonstrate career progression and professional
development in a similar field.
