Salary: £32,262 to £38,633

Hours: 37 hours per week

Type of post: Temporary for 2 years

Are you passionate about taking action for climate change adaption and mitigation? Do you want
to protect and enhance the special qualities of the National Park and support communities to
become more resilient? As the new Climate Change Officer, you will be part of a team working
across the South Downs National Park landscape to achieve next zero.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual, with proven technical and
inter-personal skills to be part of a friendly but hardworking team. You will be supporting the
climate change programme of work across the South Downs National Park providing high quality
technical advice relating to climate change and net zero to a variety of internal and external
customers. The work ranges from helping to deliver Net Zero targets through nature-based
solutions to supporting local communities and partners to transition to a low-carbon future.
Through the programme we are developing a range of innovative approaches to accelerate and
deliver positive action. We need someone that can help us to step up and effectively meet the
challenge of climate change.

You will have knowledge and experience of the legislative framework for climate change, but
also a track record in project delivery and community engagement. There is also scope for
developing new projects and approaches linked to external funding opportunities.

As with all the work of the SDNPA, partnership and collaborative working are essential. As
Climate Change Officer you will be expected to work with a wide range of partners from
community groups and local authorities to statutory bodies and environmental charities.
