BRIDGE – Building Relationships, Inclusivity, Diversity, Growth, and Excellence
WWF’s diversity-focused internship program, BRIDGE, aims to recruit professionals early in their careers who bring fresh thinking and innovation to the environmental and conservation sector and are well positioned to develop into the next generation of leaders. Our mission is to increase exposure of students from underrepresented populations to conservation and environmental careers, provide professional development opportunities, reduce the barriers to attracting a diverse pool of internship candidates, and develop a pipeline for future WWF hires from underrepresented populations.
Position Summary
The climate justice partnerships intern will be part of a multidisciplinary team focused on implementing America Is All In 2024 Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) strategy and agenda, with a specific focus on advancing federal climate objectives – IRA and Justice40 implementation – and the national/sub-national climate justice work plan. This role requires a combination of both programmatic and administrative tasks in support of advancing national, sub-national and international climate policy objectives across various workstreams – coalition and membership services, convenings, communications, research and analysis.
The intern will support the AIl In team in maintaining relationships with coalition partners and key partners like Dr. Bullard and The Bullard Center for Climate and Environmental Justice and Health Care Without Harm, and new partners like the BlueGreen Alliance and the Partnership for Southern Equity. The intern will also help coordinate climate justice centered project for the 2024 storytelling campaign, conduct desktop research on key topics related to the work and help develop internal resources and materials for meetings, webinars and events, and assist with the development of knowledge products that come from subgrantees activities and deliverables for U.S. climate federal objectives.
Responsibilities
- Program Support: Support climate justice partnership management and storytelling production pieces centered around climate and environmental justice, and assist with the development of knowledge products that come from subgrantees activities and deliverables for U.S. climate federal objectives.
- Logistical support: Support key All In climate action events for the summer by helping with logistics; Support event coordination, including but not limited to coordinating participant registrations, catering, and ensuring smooth event execution.
- Partnership engagement: Support the AIl In team in maintaining relationships with coalition partners and key partners as part of the climate justice scope of work.
- Desktop research and analysis: Conduct desktop research on key topics related to the work and help develop internal resources and materials for meetings, webinars, events, etc.; Produce internal summaries on partners’ work, including context and background information on partners, stakeholders, and others.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s program. Must be an actively enrolled student and not received degree at time of internship start date (June 17, 2024).
- Have a demonstrated interest in federal policy, climate change, environmental sciences, conservation, sustainability, renewable energy, natural resource management, environmental justice, environmental equity or other related fields.
- Strong communications skills – writing and verbal.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.

Learning Outcomes
The BRIDGE intern will learn about federal policies, tools and resources associated with the implementation of climate and environmental justice practices in the realm of America Is All In work. The intern will develop professional connections from meetings and networking opportunities with All In coalition partners and members. The intern will develop skills in research and analysis, communications, organization, time management and project completion. Learn and understand the logistics and components of event planning for major climate events and activities like Climate Week.
WWF interns will be provided a set of professional development opportunities, aimed at increasing their exposure to conservation and sustainability careers. This includes:
- Development discussions with their manager;
- Up to two online courses through Cornell University’s eCornell program;
- Speed mentoring with different WWF teams;
- Opportunity to present their work to intern peers and WWF staff;
- Session on resume and interviewing best practices.
Interns will also have access to an array of networking opportunities. This includes meetings with WWF’s CEO, the senior management team, Employee Resource Groups, and representatives from other departments.
Location:
US-DC-Washington OR US Remote – WWF employs interns in all states with the exception of: Alabama, Hawaii, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Nevada, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Wyoming.
Compensation:
Paid – $17 per hour (full-time, 35 hours per week)

Internship will run from June 17, 2024 to August 23, 2024
