POSITION SUMMARY
The Climate Training Manager is a key member of the Trainings and Events Team, and will focus on leading, developing and analyzing training agendas, creating mission and campaign-aligned content, and identifying and recruiting subject matter experts. Additionally, this role will perform pre-training site visits, including analyzing potential sites for trainings, within the United States and internationally, develop and present training concepts and generate buy-in from The Climate Reality Project’s Executive Team and Chairman, and ensure collaboration among internal departments towards the successful implementation of Climate Reality Leadership Corps trainings. Currently reporting to the Climate Training Senior Manager. The Climate Training Manager has no direct reports.
This position is within a union-represented collective bargaining unit, and specific terms and conditions of employment will be subject to a collective bargaining agreement between Climate Reality and the union.
This is a full time, exempt, benefits-eligible, hybrid position, currently expected to work from The Climate Reality Project office in downtown Washington DC at least two days per week. The salary for position is $80,000.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop session content and broader training theme recommendations for management for Climate Reality Leadership Corps training agendas
- Independently research, identify, vet and recommend to management possible speakers for Climate Reality Leadership Corps trainings
- Develop and lead speaker preparation meetings for each agenda session, which includes developing topically specific content
- Oversee speaker data, logistics, and travel (on site and remote). Liaise between speakers, Climate Reality staff, and vendors
- Plan and participate in pre-training site visits on behalf of management both domestically and internationally and conduct regionally focused research and analysis, identifying key topics, critical stakeholders, potential action opportunities, and compelling case studies
- Collaborate with other departments and vendors to ensure that events and projects track with organizational priorities of building the climate movement and mobilizing activists
- Facilitate and present at cross-organizational planning meetings. Present during meetings with high-level external speakers or partners. Prepare briefing materials and memos, and present training concepts to the Chairman and executive leadership team
- Collaborate with the development and management of other organizational events as needed
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of our operations and enrichment of our culture, for example by serving on ad hoc or ongoing working groups, assisting with the onboarding and training of colleagues, and participating in efforts to assess, refine, and strengthen our culture and practices

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Comfortable working with high-profile leaders and representing Climate Reality to external stakeholders
- Strong interest and ability to conduct research and write in new subject areas
- Analyze and present findings and recommendations to senior leaders
- Awareness of cultural diversity and ability to work effectively with international stakeholders
- Excellent communication and project management skills, with strong attention to detail and timelines
- Collaborative and diplomatic mindset
- Self-starter with the ability to identify and solve for system weaknesses with creative solutions
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required, CRM experience preferred
- Ability to work under short deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally for periods up to 1-2 weeks per instance, several times per year
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree—or equivalent experience
- Has at least 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
- Working knowledge and interest in researching climate policy, just transition, clean energy, grassroots activism, and environmental and climate justice topics in the US and abroad
- Experience managing external constituents for long-term projects or large-scale events
- Experience developing education-based events theme-focused agendas , or large-scale training in the United States or internationally highly desired
- Experience with project management mythologies and tools
