Clinic Manager

ORGANIZATION UPDATE

WildCare is currently in a very exciting phase of our 50+ year history! We are embarking on a $24M  (of which we have already raised over 75% of our goal!)construction project that includes the demolition of existing structures, the restoration of our historic museum, and the construction of a new three-story wildlife hospital along with state-of-the-art patient aviaries and cages. During this transformative period, we are operating out of  a temporary location one exit north of the original facility. Our grand re-opening of the newly renovated hospital is slated for 2027. 

POSITION SUMMARY

As a Clinic Hospital Manager at WildCare, you will play a pivotal role in managing our vibrant Wildlife Hospital’s clinic side, co-leading alongside the Songbird Hospital Manager. This dynamic position goes beyond a typical managerial role, encompassing direct animal care, operational oversight, and team leadership. This is not a seated desk position. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the clinic, ensuring high standards of animal care and effective management of staff and resources.
• Provide hands-on care to a diverse range of wildlife, supervising the administration of treatments and the overall animal well-being.
• Mentor and guide a dedicated team of technicians, assistants, volunteers, and interns, fostering a collaborative and professional environment.
• Assist in the seamless transition to the new facility and contribute to long-term strategic goals, ensuring readiness and adaptability.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 

• Minimum 5 years of experience in wildlife rehabilitation with hands-on medical care, including at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity is preferred, but different time ranges within these or similar roles will be considered.
• Handling and care for a wide variety of  North American urban wildlife species.
• Diagnostics,  drug dosing, and emergency care, and ideally anesthesia monitoring.
• Proven ability to manage complex operations and lead diverse teams.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid California driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Certified Wildlife Rehabilitator, Registered Veterinary Technician, or degree in biology, zoology, or a related field preferred but not required.
• Must be physically capable of lifting 50 pounds and performing demanding tasks in various environmental conditions.

REQUIRED SKILLS & CHARACTERISTICS

• Positive attitude, ability to multitask, and strong organizational skills.
• Excel under pressure with strong conflict resolution abilities.

LEGAL ELIGIBILITY AND WORK LOCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Candidates must be currently residing in the United States and demonstrate eligibility to work in the US as per federal and California law.

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS

• Regular work schedule: Sunday through Thursday, with flexibility required during peak seasons.
• Willingness to cover various shifts, including early mornings, late evenings, and some holidays, as needed.
• Participate in a rotational after-hours emergency support schedule.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

• Competitive salary: $68,460-$70,000 based on experience
• Full-time, exempt position with comprehensive benefits including 100% covered health insurance, supplemental dental and vision insurance, a 3% matching 401k plan, generous vacation and sick leave, and 15 paid holidays.
