Position Responsibilities
Position Summary | This full-time, clinical faculty, non-tenure track assistant professor in Mechanical Engineering will have an appointment of 85% teaching, 5% scholarship and creative activity, 5% outreach and extension, and 5% service. The position is available for the academic year 2024/25, and it can be renewed contingent on performance and availability of funds. The position will reside in Mechanical Engineering, and the successful hire will also work closely with the College of Engineering on course offerings. Teaching assignments may include lower- and upper-division courses in mechanical engineering and will consider the expertise of the successful candidate and the needs of the department. Other teaching needs may arise, such as technical elective courses at the senior undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will be involved in advising and mentoring students and participating in department service and leadership. |

Contingency Description | This faculty appointment is contingent on funding and/or work to support the position. Employee acknowledges and agrees that in the event of insufficient funding and/or work, as determined by University in its sole discretion, University may: (1) change this Agreement by adjusting the employee’s FTE and annual salary throughout the contract year; or (2) terminate this Agreement and employee’s employment prior to the end of the term of appointment, upon 60 days written notice. Employee further acknowledges and agrees that in the event termination for insufficient funding and/or work becomes necessary, the notice provisions of Faculty Staff Handbook 3900B will not apply. |
