The Supporting Recovery program will deliver Family, Domestic and Sexual Violence (FDSV) trauma-informed mental health care services within South West Sydney to support victim-survivors in their longer-term recovery.

Key elements of the service include:

  • Victim-survivors of FDSV and their families have free access for up to 2 years to evidence-based trauma informed mental health care.
  • Provision of psychological therapies and other appropriate wellbeing and social interventions.
  • Collaborations with other services to facilitate coordination of care and assist with referral pathways.
  • Community engagement activities to increase community awareness.

Purpose of the role:

To provide family, domestic and sexual violence (FDSV) trauma-informed mental health care services, including psychological therapies and other appropriate wellbeing and social interventions within South West Sydney to support victim-survivors in their longer-term recovery.

Also, to provide training and supervision to Supporting Recovery program staff. Also, to ensure clinical standards of the program are consistent with Supporting Recovery Model of Care and best practice standards in supporting FDSV victim-survivors.

Key Responsibilities (not limited to):

  • Hiring of capable and values aligned staff and ensure that all program staff are well supported with appropriate clinical supervision and professional development.
  • Provide line management to Mental Health Practitioners.
  • Provide trauma-informed mental health care services to victim-survivors of FDSV.
  • Given the nature of the program/services, additional hours of work may be required.
  • Ensure the delivery of best practice psychological therapies and wellbeing interventions.
  • Ensure services are welcoming, accessible, compassionate, person-centred, trauma informed, culturally safe and inclusive of all who present. Include perspectives of First Nations peoples, people with disability, members of LGBTQIA+ communities and people from CALD communities.
  • Work collaboratively with Local Care Team, Catholic Care colleagues and external stakeholders to ensure a positive experience for program clients.
  • Establish collaborations and partnerships with organisations including other SWSPHN commissioned mental health and alcohol and other drugs services.
  • Ensure services are consistent with the Supporting Recovery Model of Care.
  • Collaborate with Anglicare Clinical Lead – Children and Young People and Catholic Care Clinical Leads to develop program clinical governance standards and staff professional development initiatives.
  • Adhere to program risk management framework to identify and mitigate program risks.
  • Contribute to the safety culture by keeping the workplace complying with safe work practices and support other team members to comply with safe work practices.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience needed:

  • Tertiary degree qualification applicable to role – i.e. Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, Nursing or similar.
  • 5+ years’ experience working with clients experiencing mental health challenges and FDSV (mandatory).
  • Registration with relevant professional body – i.e. minimum level 4 ACA, PACFA Clinical, APHRA, AASW mental health social worker accreditation.
  • Supervision registration with relevant professional body.
  • Police check and valid NSW WWCC.
  • Current NSW Driver’s Licence.
  • Previous experience supporting CALD clients (desirable).
