Behavioral Health Adult Outpatient Psychiatry

Full Time

76210BR

Job Summary

The University of California, San Francisco Department of Psychiatry is looking for innovative clinicians to join the Adult Psychiatry Clinic (APC).  The APC is a large, multi-disciplinary clinic, currently located at the Pritzker Building of UCSF, and it is the primary outpatient training site for UCSF psychiatry residents.  Medical students also participate in some of the clinic’s components as part of their core clinical training in psychiatry.  Trainees and faculty evaluate new patients across a number of different specialty clinics and faculty practices that focus on various patient populations, including diagnosis-based (e.g. depression, anxiety, bipolar) and population-based (e.g. women, geriatrics, and LGBT) clinics. After the initial evaluation, clinicians develop comprehensive individualized treatment plans that may include medication management and/or psychotherapy. If psychotherapy is part of the treatment plan after the intake (or at any subsequent time), an internal referral is made which leads to patients being placed on a psychotherapy waitlist. This position involves providing primarily time-limited individual psychotherapy to a panel of diverse patients as well as running treatment groups. The clinician in this position builds and maintains their psychotherapy panel by taking patients off of the waitlist (and there may be some direct referrals as well.) The work environment involves collaborative interaction with other practitioners within Psychiatry. Ways to improve communication and service to patients are part of each person’s job in the Department. Participation in the Continuous Quality Improvement process and strict adherence to privacy policies and all clinic procedures are expected.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
