We are on the lookout for a strategic and driven Clinical Team Lead to join our MHDA program and provide leadership and mentorship to our team in the Western NSW region.

This program works in partnership with Western NSW Local Health District’s Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol (MHDA) services to deliver a voluntary psychosocial day program to people accessing the sub-acute mental health units based on the hospital grounds of Dubbo and Bathurst. Each unit offers services providing support to people who are living in the community who require short term support and intensive clinical treatment and intervention with an aim is to prevent further deterioration or relapse which may lead to an inpatient hospital admission in a declared facility.

The role of the Clinical Team Lead is to provide clinical guidance and day-to-day support to a team of mental health support workers providing psychosocial group programs within these units.

The position is permanent part time, working Monday to Wednesday between the hours 6am – 8pm the preferred base location is Bathurst at our regional office, with working across Dubbo & Bathurst.

The day to day

  • Responsible for the successful delivery of person-centred and recovery-focused services and support for the MHDA program.
  • Develop a high performing team to deliver quality client, service and organisational outcomes in line with New Horizons strategies and organisations plans
  • Provide clinical input, consultation and oversee clinical decision-making relating to client care and plans in consultation with relevant stakeholders
  • Manage resources in a flexible and efficient manger to effectively manage program activities and ensure a responsive service
  • Ensure culturally appropriate service provision for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and for people with other culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds

What you need to have

  • Degree qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Mental Health Nursing, including eligibility for registration/membership with the appropriate professional body.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of person-centred and recovery-based mental health care.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of both clinical and human services.
  • Experience in leadership and supervision of employees, students and volunteers.
  • Knowledge of and participation in continuous quality improvement processes.
