This position is an administrative/faculty position with primary responsibility and oversight of coordinating students’ practicum and internship experiences. Adler University does not have an internal clinic and students are placed in agencies and private practices across Vancouver’s Lower Mainland and beyond for the practicum in the MACP/MCP/SYC programs.
The Clinical Training Director position is a full-time, 4-day a week, 12-month salaried position with contract and a faculty rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor (depending on academic experience). The Clinical Training Director reports directly to the Program Director, and works closely with the Program Faculty.
Education/Experience:
- A doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, or Counseling, Supervision, and Education.
- Minimum 3-5 years of professional training experience.
- Evidence of clinical/counselling supervision and academic administration at the graduate level.
- Evidence of social justice and social responsibility professional practice.
- Ability to successfully manage multiple projects with multiple deadlines.
- Ability to develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.
- Ability to communicate ideas and information effectively in both verbal and written form.
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, needs and demands.
- Ability to manage one’s own time and the time of others effectively.
Certifications/Registration: proof of BCACC, CCPA, or BC College of Psychologists. (Recommended: Supervisory designation.)
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manages the required practicum experiences including application, contract, and participation for students
- Manages current practicum sites including contracts with the site and supervisor
- Manages the cycle of assessment (evaluations of student, site, and supervisor) of clinical training
- Maintains regular site contact (including visits) as well as manages any student concerns/issues/crises throughout practicum
- Develops prospective practicum experiences securing agreements with sites and supervisors insuring they meet the requirements of the programs
- Updates the clinical training portions of the MACP/MCP/SYC Program Clinical Training Handbook
- Maintains Adler Practicum Tool (APT)
- Trains students and supervisors on Time2Track, a clinical experience tracking tool
- Works closely with the MACP/MCP/SYC Program Director to maintain consistency across academic and clinical requirements/opportunities across programs
- Participates in faculty governance (service) including Faculty Council and other faculty committees
- Conduct and reviews Master’s Qualifying Exams
- Participates in Program Orientation representing clinical training.
- Other duties as assigned by the Program Director
