Salary: Salaries at Global Greengrants Fund (GGF) are dependent on applicable salary scales, and internal pay policies including equity considerations and budget. Due to how salary negotiations perpetuate existing structural inequities, GGF has moved away from salary negotiation processes for any candidate. We will make our best offer, and it will be the same regardless of the candidate. The salary range for this position for someone in the USA as per workband E is between $100,875 and $134,500.

The Co-Director of Philanthropy needs to understand the challenges and opportunities that come with these transformations and be able to remain flexible, steady, and adaptable while inspiring the team through change.
The role
Global Greengrants Fund is looking to hire an energetic and passionate individual who will provide Co-leadership in developing and implementing a values-aligned philanthropic strategy and Co-leading our development team to meet our philanthropic goals. They will take up the Co-Directorship role alongside Chantal Pasquarello, GGF’s Co-Director of Philanthropy, who joined GGF in December 2023. Together, the Co-Directors of Philanthropy will be sharing and balancing the responsibilities for strategic development and strategic implementation working complementary to ensure integration and cohesion. There is an expectation to deepen and develop the co-director model to align with the core values of shared leadership and democratic decision-making as well as to strengthen the complementarity of the skill sets and strengthen the sustainability and impact of these roles; it needs to be more than two individual Director roles working together.
In taking up this Co-Directorship, the successful individuals will be instrumental in:
- Implementing the new philanthropic strategy, developed centered on community-centric fundraising principles and to shift harmful philanthropic practices, to build and sustain relationships with donors and partners across the organization’s fundraising portfolio, including through individual giving, major gifts, institutional donors, community development, and other creative philanthropic means.
- Implementing new philanthropic revenue strategies, reporting, and accountability to ensure we reach multi-year revenue goals, meet fundraising targets quarterly, and provide the Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees the revenue tracking and predications they require, overseeing fundraising operations towards a goal of +$30M and evolve strategy as needed to meet annual revenue goals.
- Implementing new strategies for inspirational donor engagement and learning to meet the growing annual budget needs and to ensure long-term commitments, building diverse, multi-year, reliable funding to support Global Greengrants’ work and evolve strategy as needed to meet annual goals.
- Leading the philanthropic team in meeting their day-to-day needs to reach philanthropic goals and self-management in alignment with the organizational vision for self-organized collaboration.
- Developing and implementing team strategies and ensuring that the team has the tools and resources they need to thrive and meet annual revenue and relationship-building goals.
- Ensuring collaboration and integration within and across the US Organization, the US Philanthropic team, and the UK organization.
- Ensuring an integration of information and learning for the philanthropic team through working closely with relevant other functional areas.
The Co-Director of Philanthropy will come into the role as part of a team of approximately 40 staff, in a financially stable organization, with a strong culture grounded in a commitment to learning and growing and mutual accountability. Co-Directors of Philanthropy are members of the External Relations team, and in the present accountability structures are line managed by the Vice President of External Relations while building and working in more collaborative ways.
The candidate profile.
Successful applicants will have significant relevant experience in similar roles in non-profit environmental justice, feminist, gender, human rights organizations, and/or funding organizations. They should have demonstrated experience in creating global philanthropic strategies that address a need to diversify funding and meet the evolving needs of a growing and transforming progressive organization. Crucially, being comfortable with outreach to donors, securing meetings, and soliciting gifts, they have a track record as a successful fundraiser and leader at an organization equal to or greater in size than the Global Greengrants Fund. They also have a track record of developing and maintaining donor relationships that are politically aligned with the vision and values of the organization, at the $1 million level, and stewarding such donors effectively. They demonstrate abilities to create a values-aligned environment of trust, equity, and accountability to our work and mission, and ensure involvement of the team in developing strategies and in the sharing of information. They should have excellent interpersonal understanding, relationship building, and interpersonal skills to build strong alliances with diverse constituencies and manage complex politics, positioning, and relationships. They also thrive in a virtual environment, motivated to take on challenges and collaboratively find innovative and creative solutions.
Personal Characteristics
The successful candidate will be rooted in feminist politics while pushing the boundaries of philanthropic discourse and be comfortable holding and articulating a radical vision that seeks to go beyond conventional thinking. They will be a transparent and adaptive leader with a commitment to lifelong learning and a drive to mentor, coach, and share leadership and who can intellectually drive the vision and ensure that there is space and opportunity for others to come along on their transformative journey while taking meaningful purpose-driven actions. They will have skills to give, receive, and work with feedback constructively, with the intellectual and emotional resilience necessary to take up critical responsibilities for an international global organization. Relevant lived experiences related to GGF’s work and community would be an advantage. Multiple language skills would be ideal, while English fluency is a must.
