Join our Commercial Department as our new Commercial Director for UK&I and work with us to close the gap to a sustainable future.Your new role and teamAs our new Commercial Director for UK&I, you will be a key member of the UK Leadership Team, and will be responsible for providing commercial, contractual and financial management to projects and the business in line with Ramboll Group processes. The Commercial Director carries the overarching responsibility of managing the commercial aspects of the UK&I business, including advising on commercial and cost issues, administration of contracts, as well as processes and procedures within the unit. It also includes the day-to-day management of the Commercial Team, spread across our Markets for Buildings, Transport, Energy and Environment and Health.You will be part of growing Ramboll’s commercial team. As our Commercial Director, you will lead the existing Commercial Team with an aim to grow the team to cover the needs of the Business.To succeed in this role, you must have in-depth knowledge of construction procurement routes and processes, and a thorough understanding of construction and Professional Services and Framework contracts.Your key responsibilities will be:
- Develop and implement commercial strategies according to company goals and objectives, to accelerate the commercial awareness within the business in line with our growth plan
- Keep abreast of trends and market conditions to provide strategic advice to the Executive board relating to market Risks and Opportunities within the business
- Promote and expand Ramboll’s commercial activities that will generate stronger revenues and lead to sustainable growth
- Build and maintain profitable partnerships with key stakeholders (both internally and externally)
- Assist in setting financial targets and budget development and monitoring
- Examine existing company rules and procedures to make sure they stay relevant and make recommendations for necessary changes
- Where relevant to commercial performance, analyse project information and other internal reports to give insight into how the company operates and then suggests adjustments to improve performance
- Resolve issues with contracts and commercial operations with Clients and 3rd parties (Claims and Disputes)
- Communicate with all parties (and in some cases take the lead) on major and high-risk contract negotiations, and ensure all parties understand the financial and commercial consequences of the contracts terms.
- Assess risks to the business of any current and new commercial opportunity and make recommendations based on a thorough analysis of all factors involved in a business situation

- Have an Engineering/Quantity Surveyor background to ensure technical understanding of the services offered
- In-depth knowledge of construction procurement routes and processes
- Thorough understanding of construction contracts and the impact of Construction Law on business activities
- Effective negotiation techniques
- Ability to drive positive outcomes in claims and entitlement disputes.
- Solid knowledge of performance reporting and financial/budgeting processes
- Commercial awareness partnered with a strategic mindset, including the ability to develop commercial tender win scenarios across multiple sectors
- Able to coach employees on best practices for managing contract issues and handling daily issues and tasks
- Proven organizational and leadership skills
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
