The Communications Intern will join the growing Resource Mobilization and Partnerships Team to support SHF in its exciting journey as a growing UN Global Fund dedicated to sanitation, hygiene and menstrual health. This role will involve supporting the creation and publication of various external relations assets, including external publications, brochures, slide decks, website and social media content. The Communications Intern will also support the global positioning of the Fund by supporting participation in various global events.
Role of the Resource Mobilization and Partnerships Intern
The Resource Mobilization and Partnerships Intern will support the development and implementation of tailored donor engagement strategies with strategic bilateral and multilateral partners. The Intern will also contribute to strengthening engagement with private foundations and other non-traditional donors. Finally, the intern will play a key role in supporting the organization of the first replenishment event for SHF, planned for 2025, as well as other high level meetings paving the way to this key moment.
Functional Responsibilities:
Under the overall supervision of the Head of Resource Mobilization and Partnerships, the interns provide support to the Sanitation and Hygiene Fund, performing a variety of dedicated functions ensuring high quality and accuracy of work, in support of the Sanitation and Hygiene Fund(SHF) and different teams’ activities.
Communications Internship:
Under the guidance of the Head of Resource Mobilization and Partnerships, the Communications intern will:
- Social media: propose content for social media channels and tactics to increase social media engagement.
- SHF’s website: Review the existing webpages of SHF’s website and propose enhancements. Create and curate engaging content and news to drive more traffic to the website.
- Content: Contribute to the development and implementation of a content calendar, and draft social media packages, blogs, news, articles, scripts and other products as needed.
- Publications: Support the development of SHF’s publications and flagship reports, including editing content, creating infographics and proposing visuals.
- Global positioning: help identify key global moments, potential champions and influencers to strengthen SHF’s global positioning on sanitation, hygiene and menstrual health.
- Event management: Support efforts related to event management – including preparing and dispatching invitation letters, assisting with organization, implementation of and follow up to events, briefings, video/audio conference calls and webinars
- Provide general assistance to the Resource Mobilization and Partnerships team on various projects and activities, including administrative support, scheduling of meetings, taking meeting minutes etc.
Resource Mobilization and Partnerships Intern:
Under the guidance of the Head of Resource Mobilization and Partnerships, the Resource Mobilisation and Partnerships intern will:
- Partners mapping:Contribute to the mapping of strategic donors and partners to support SHF’s global positioning.
- Donor engagement strategies: Support the development of tailored donor engagement strategies for selected multilateral and bilateral donors through desk research.
- Donor intelligence: keep track and report on key donor and funding trends relevant to SHF’s development sectors.
- Donor tracker: Update donor tracker spreadsheet after each donor meeting, based on meeting notes.
- Resource mobilization strategy: support regular updating of SHF’s resource mobilization strategy.
- Donor visibility: propose content to support donor visibility and recognition across all of SHF’s communications platforms.
- Event management: Support efforts related to event management – including preparing and dispatching invitation letters, assisting with organization, implementation of and follow up to events, briefings, video/audio conference calls and webinars
- Other: Provide general assistance to the Resource Mobilization and Partnerships team on various projects and activities, including administrative support, scheduling of meetings, taking meeting minutes etc.
- Training components and learning elements
- The incumbents will have access to project and portfolio documentation to learn about project management and development cooperation in the areas the portfolio covers. She/he has the opportunity to join official meetings and learn about UNOPS, and the UN, and multilateral cooperation. She/he will get exposure to key stakeholders, multi-partner donors, international non-governmental organizations and other representatives.
- The incumbent will also have full access to UNOPS intranet, Google Currents/Communities of Practice (COPs) in Project Management, Gender Mainstreaming, Innovation and Research, Sustainable Infrastructure, etc.
Education/Experience/Language requirements:
Education:
- The applicant must be enrolled in a university programme, such as a Bachelor, Masters, or Ph.D. (or equivalent) or have graduated from such studies within three (3) years prior to the applications date of the internship
Experience:
- Professional work experience is not required for this internship.
The following experience will be an asset:
- Prior work experience is an asset
- Experience with prioritization of tasks and strong commitment to teamwork and results is desirable.
- Good organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines is desired
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal is desired
Language:
- Fluency in written and oral English is required
- Working knowledge of other UN languages is an asset.
