Organization Mission

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.

UN Women Country Office (CO) is based in Astana, Kazakhstan aims to support to the Government and civil society organizations in the development and implementation of innovative approaches aimed at achieving gender equality and women’s empowerment, specifically targeting increasing women’s political participation and leadership, securing women’s economic rights, strengthening women”s involvement in peace building, ending violence against women and making government budgets and policies more responsive to women”s needs.

Context

Media content for social media will promote UN Women Kazakhstan knowledge products and raise awareness of the audience on gender equality and women”s empowerment. This online volunteering assignment will help the Online Volunteers learn more about UN Women work in the country and would be able to enhance their skills in advocacy and communications among different stakeholders, outreaching diverse audiences and using different communication tools in promoting gender equality and women empowerment initiatives.

Online volunteer will provide support in communications and technical part of project implementation.

Key Responsibilities

Communications and project implementation technical support, including assisting with logistical arrangements, communication with counterparts, compiling the requested information, analysis and preparation of simple draft reports, translation of texts (English to Russian/Kazakh, Russian to Kazakh – 5 pages, in total), media monitoring and research, drafting social media posts, cards (2 cards), reels (duration: 1 min), 2 posts for Instagram and Facebook in Kazakh, English. It is expected to prepare media and social media monitoring on main Kazakhstani developments in GEWE at least once per week. Creating subtitles for videos.

Required Skills and Experience

Skills in project implementation, creating social media content, including designing, drafting posts, graphic animation, etc. Excellent knowledge of Russian is required. Knowledge of Kazakh is an asset.
